Bolt version:

Add an O-ring kit:
Now with latest aluminum (blue) bolt stalk. The HollowPoint Ion bolt is unlike any other bolt you have ever seen for the Ion or even in paintball. Over a year in development, the HP Ion bolt uses Hollow Valving™ technology (Patent pending) which eliminates the use of multiple ports through the bolt --the bolt is one big port! Multiple ports in a bolt introduce structural weak points and air flow turbulence. Hollow Valving allows the bolt to be much lighter, stronger, and higher-flowing. The HP Ion bolt also introduces ARB™ (Anti Roll Back -Patent pending). ARB™ eliminates the "ball roll back" problem typically caused by a deep-cupped bolt face. Installation instructions here.
HollowPoint features:
  • 7.4 grams pretty much takes the cake for the lightest bolt.... ever?
  • Lowest kick.
  • Over twice the valve area and flow path as a stock Ion bolt. Opens faster, flows better.
  • Contiguous toroidal air flow path. No porting to break up the air flow.
  • Longer bolt nose section takes better advantage of the Ion's SFT seal.
  • ARB feature prevents ballstack chops caused from the ball rolling back into the cupped bolt face.
  • Controlled condition testing yielded 1800 full 290fps shots @ 150 psi from a 68/45 tank. Expect to get 1500-1600 in typical use.
  • Quick, easy install.
Now available for the following markers:
Works with:
- Original generation Ion, Lucky 5.1 bodies
- Ion XE, Vibe, SP1 (replaces entire end-cap assembly)

*At this time we do not suggest using the HP bolt in the Epiphany or EOS due to the higher required operating pressure.

First off, I purchased this bolt the day that it was released, and received it in the mail no later than four days of the shipment date. That right there is quality service. My first experience with the bolt was not with the bolt itself, but with the USPS box it came in. I literally thought the box was empty by how light it was, but I heard stuff rattling around inside and opened it up. Inside the box, neatly packaged, was a flawless orange anodized Hollow Point bolt that was lighter than I could imagine. There were some extra goodies packed in as well, although I do not know if that was just a promotional offer or not, but I got a high quality barrel sock and a sticker as well. Now to the product review. Installation: Very easy. The directions on the website are very very clear, but I must say, that you do need loctite or something that performs the same way on the screw to the bolt stalk. I will explain why later. Installation took less than 2 minutes. Playing: I took it out the next day, and played some woodsball. My first notice was that I could drastically lower my input pressure, which is a plus to me, and my dwell, another pluss. The bolt has absolutely no kick. None at all, which is amazing. The bolt is a little loud, not to worry though. It's more of a "cack" type sound when fired. All in all I was amazed by this bolt. As the day wore on though the bolt started to cause me problems. The bolt stalk would get loose after a pod or two of paint was shot through it. The stalk would fall forward, causing balls to not load properly, and I had to call it a day. I took it home however, and loctited the screw into the stalk, and I have never had a problem since. Conclusion: I have gone speedballing many times now with it, and I must say it is 10x better than the Lucky stage 1 bolt that I had in my Ion. 0 kick whatsoever makes laning a lot easier, increasing your performance on the field. And I swear that my shots are more accurate now as well, and I believe that is due to the porting, or lack there of as it is one hole. Many people have asked to shoot my ion, and they were surprised at how easy it was to keep the gun shooting ball on ball because of the lack of kick. Not only did this bolt improve my ion, but it improved my game via lack of kick allowing my shots to become more consistent. This bolt is amazing, a top buy for anyone in the market for a new bolt. Nothing can compare, and lubing it is easy as well, just two o-rings and it's done. Perfect bolt, absolutely flawless! Deadlywind does it again!

Bolt was very light and worked great. It was easy to install, with the directions provided on the site. The price is just WAY!! to much for a bolt, just a bit ridicules in my opinion. But if you have the money go for it.

I am shocked by the performance of this bolt. The Deadlywind Hollowpoint is without a doubt the best, lightest, and sweetest bolt you could put on your ion. My first impression when taking it out of the box was I was very impressed. The bolt was feather light. Compared to the stock bolt it felt like air. Soon after, I tried to install it. I had a little trouble at first, with leaking out the front of the barrel. I took it back apart, lubed the stalk o-ring, and made sure the stalk was centered in the firing can. I soon after put it back together. I aired it up again, and the leak was still there. So after looking through forums and such, I dry fired it about ten times, and the leak went away. I soon learned after that it needs fast air to push the bolt forward, and then back to seal. This bolt eliminates all kick what so ever, and makes your gun absolutely RIP!! Also it makes your gun noticeably quieter, and is VERY quiet with my Stiffi and other upgrades. This bolt does not only eliminate all kick, and make your marker close to silent, but it is better on brittle paint with the ARB technology! (Anti Roll Back -Patent pending). This takes away the "ball roll back" problem which usually happens with a deep-cupped bolt tip. Also I can honestly say it makes your shots more accurate. This bolt is perfect for any kind of paintballer, from sniper to frontman. I would defiantly try it out.

DW HP Bolt - Simply The Best Period, 12/29/2007 7:39:00 AM

I have tested many many bolts, and feel this is the industry bench mark standard in top performance. I compared it to my L7 bolts, and feel its the only one that can offer a contest with them in performance. The anti roll back feature is my favorite part of the system. I have had bad paint that rolls back into the L7, tricking the eyes to think there is nothing in the chamber, resulting in failed shots. This cannot happen with the HP bolt. This bolt has no flaws what so ever in my book. Awesome product, and one of the reasons that I will be a loyal customer of your products! I recommend your products all the time because of the level of quality I have come to expect from Deadly Wind.
